Fans mourn death of world's oldest YouTuber

BENGALURU/ VIJAYAWADA: With over 1.2 million subscribers, India’s oldest You-Tuber and famous person chef — 107-year-old Karre Mastanamma — gave up the ghost on Monday. With a fan base as a long way flung as america, UK, Russia, Singapore and Australia, this resident of Gudiwada of Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, were hailed through the internet as ‘Cooking Queen’.


She was once married at 11 and widowed with 5 children through 22. It wasn’t until she was once 105 that her social media journey began when her grandson Lakshman uploaded the primary You-Tube video of her making brinjal curry. The video proved so fashionable that Lakshman began capturing movies of her making mutton chukka, pavakkai varuval (bittergourd fry), vazhakka poriyal (raw plantain fry).


Apart from showcasing traditional recipes from Andhra, Kerala and Telangana, Mastanamma created her own specialties like watermelon hen, emu egg curry, duck roast, snail fry, etc that broke the internet. Following viewers’ requests, Mastanamma also took a shot at making hen pizza and KFC-style hen.


Hundreds mourned her passing away on Twitter and YouTube, including celebrities like actress and Congress member Kushboo, singer Raashi Khanna.
