THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 4 transwomen who have been stopped and despatched again halfway by police while heading towards Sabarimala for darshan on Sunday climbed the holy steps and presented prayers on the hill shrine on Tuesday morning. They reached Sannidhanam with police protection.
The transwomen, clad in black saris, reached Pamba at 8am from Thiruvanathapuram and trekked the hill shrine accompanied by police workforce. There was no protest towards their entry into the Sannidhanam as the tanthri and Pandalam palace government had made it transparent that there was nothing wrong in them having darshan at Sabarimala.
Ahead in their talk over with, police had deployed further force at Pamba, Marakkuttom and Sannidhanam. They have been accompanied by a robust contingent of police from Pamba to Sannidhanam. However, there was no protest to the talk over with of the transwomen they usually had a calm pilgrimage.
They thanked the police and the temple government for helping them to have a secure darshan. The 4 transwomen Anannya, Tripthi, Avantika and Renju have been earlier blocked by the police on Sunday at Erumeli when they have been on their technique to have darshan. Police had reportedly mentioned that they wouldn't let them trek the hill shrine wearing sari.
Meanwhile, a bit of devotees at Sannidhanam raised a grievance that policemen wearing boots and shields have been deployed close to the sanctum sanctorum, violating custom, all over the talk over with of transgender participants. Senior officers intervened and withdrew the policemen in full uniform from the world quickly.
The transwomen had met DGP A Hemachandran, a member of the high court-appointed monitoring committee, on Monday seeking improve to have darshan. They also met IG Manoj Abraham. Police had promised them security following which they reached Pamba Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the CrPC 144 declared by the Pathanamthitta district collector at Nilackal, Pamba and Sannidhanam will end on Tuesday evening. It is learnt that the police have asked to extend the prohibitory orders till Makaravilakku to ensure an incident-free pilgrimage season.
