NEW DELHI: A person was arrested for allegedly looking to smuggle in gold price Rs 41.11 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport right here, consistent with an authentic observation issued Friday. The 20-year-old passenger was intercepted after his arrival from Bangkok Thursday.
He further intended to depart to Amritsar, the observation stated.
A detailed non-public and baggage search of the passenger resulted in the recovery of gold, weighing 1.three kg, concealed in his checked-in baggage, the Customs Department stated in the observation.
The gold was in the type of 3 'kadas' (bangles) and was lined in silver colour to steer clear of detection, it added.
