VISAKHAPATNAM: Traffic police’s marketing campaign towards under the influence of alcohol driving in city has set a new file with the absolute best choice of motorists being convicted in 2018. Statistics compiled by means of the police showed that 1,413 offenders have been sentenced to easy imprisonment (starting from three to 15 days) in 2018, while the figure used to be 335 in 2017 and 45 in 2016.
A majority of the under the influence of alcohol drivers have been within the age team between 30-45 years. Moreover, 70% of the offenders have been riders of two-wheelers and auto-rickshaw drivers.
Vizag police commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha mentioned that 32,853 motorists have been booked for under the influence of alcohol driving in 2018, while the number used to be 30,328 in 2017 and 20,127 in 2016.
