COIMBATORE: A 33-year-old lady was once killed after a truck knocked her down from the two-wheeler, on which she was once riding pillion, and ran over her at Karumathampatti on the outskirts of the town on Saturday. Another one was once injured in the incident.
The deceased was once known as I Asha, of Samathuvapuram near Sangothipalayam. She was once hired with a garment unit at Avinashi as a tailor. According to police, the incident came about when she was once going to the garment unit on Saturday morning.
“She was once waiting at a bus forestall near Kaniyur toll plaza to board a bus to Avinashi. Her co-worker Prabhakaran spotted her and offered her to take her to the place of business on his scooter. When they neared Karumathampatti, a truck weighted down with gravel hit the scooter from behind. Asha, who fell off the scooter, came under the wheels of the truck. She suffered severe accidents to her stomach and died on the spot,” a police officer connected to the Karumathampatti station said.
Prabhakaran, meanwhile, escaped with minor accidents, the officer said.
When alerted, the Karumathampatti police reached the spot and despatched the frame to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem. Later, Asha’s frame was once passed over to her members of the family.
Asha’s husband Ilaiyarasu, 37, who works with a CNC machine manufacturing unit, was once on a travel to Sabarimala. Police have knowledgeable him in regards to the incident. The couple has two kids.
Police have registered a case in opposition to the truck driver, who has been known as Senthil. Further investigation is on.
