Assam serial blast case 2008: Court convicts 15 cadres of NDFB

GUWAHATI: A quick observe court has convicted 15 cadres of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) for their involvement in serial blasts at six puts on October 30 of 2008 in Assam, during which more than 100 people have been killed and over 300 others maimed for life.
CBI, which investigated the heinous crime and filed two charge-sheets, has demanded death sentence for the entire accused. Leader of the militant outfit, Ranjan Daimary, has been named because the prime accused.


The case was once lying pending for trial since 2011 and in 2017 the state executive licensed putting in place a unique court solely for putting the trial on speedy observe.


Advocate Manas Sarania, recommend of Daimary stated, "Both the sides have rested their case and the court has fixed January 28 as the next date."


The court has up to now recorded at least 650 witnesses and a few 687 shows or documentary proof in connection to the state.


Sources stated that while it took nearly 9 years to record some 70 atypical witnesses, the entire others have been recorded throughout the remaining couple of months. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on January 30.
