Cold wave continues, no early respite, predicts IMD

BHUBANESWAR: There used to be no respite from cold in the state as 18 puts recorded temperatures under 10 level Celsius. Daringbadi, Phulbani and its within sight puts witnessed frost for successive days amid lowest temperature being recorded at Daringbadi at 4 level Celsius.
The IMD forecast stated similar trend with minor fluctuations will proceed this week.

A senior meteorologist, Sudarsan Mishra, at IMD centre here stated severe cold wave warning has been sounded in hilly and far off pockets on Wednesday. Director of Centre for Environment and Climate of SOA University in the town Sarat Chandra Sahu stated evening temperature would witness a minor upward push in the state next week. Sahu, the former director of regional IMD centre here, stated intense cold prevailed in the state for successive days as dry cold wind blew from northern region.

On Tuesday, Koraput at 4.five level Celsius recorded perfect seven level Celsius fall from normal. The other puts recording major fall in evening temperature are Keonjhargarh (6.4 deg C), Angul ( 6.6 deg C), Bhawanipatna ( 7 deg C) and Sambalpur ( 7.eight deg C).


The twin cities — Bhubaneswar and Cuttack — were shivering at nine.five and nine.4 level Celsius respectively.


Severe cold continued to affect lives around the state. People at many puts, most commonly in inner pockets, most popular to remain indoors while roads and marketplace puts wore abandoned glance as night approached. Many people sat around bonfires to keep themselves warm. Railways stations and evening shelters in the town and other puts also saw rush of deficient people. “Intense cold in ultimate three days delayed my morning stroll and yoga class,” stated Ayushman Hota, a instructor in the town.
