SURAT: Police arrested a 23-year-old guy for allegedly raping his 20-year-old girl colleague working in a sanatorium positioned in the jurisdiction of Katargam police station here on Sunday. The accused later shared their private video on social media when the rape survivor began to pressurize him to marry her.
Rohit Gamit, a native of Ambli village in Songadh taluka of Tapi district, used to be arrested for allegedly raping the complainant girl time and again in the past few weeks. The accused and the complainant came in contact in the sanatorium where they worked as a compounder and a helper, respectively.
The accused became pals with the woman and raped her in the sanatorium premises promising marriage or even made a video of their intimate moments. When the woman requested about his plans to marry her, the accused showed her the video in his mobile phone and threatened to make it move viral if she ever talked about marriage once more. The girl requested him to delete the video from his mobile phone, however the accused shared it with people known to him on Facebook and WhatsApp a couple of weeks in the past. The complainant came to learn about it recently and lodged a police complaint against him.
Police investigation revealed that the accused had shared the video from his mobile phone. They are but to recuperate the mobile phone from the accused which he had used to record and percentage the video with people known to him.
“The complainant informed police that she had entered into a bodily relationship willingly with the accused after he promised to marry her. The factor became severe when the accused shared their private video on social media,” police stated, including that they will additionally investigate if the accused had blackmailed another girls in the past similarly.
