Gang waylays jewellery shop staff near Coimbatore, robs gold ornaments worth 98.05 lakh

COIMBATORE: Police are searching for a 10-member gang that waylaid two personnel of a Kerala-based jewellery firm and robbed them of 350 sovereigns of gold adorns and 243 grams of silver adorns on Monday morning.

CR Arjun and TS Wilfred, workers of Kalyan Jewellers at Thrissur in Kerala, have been transporting the jewelry to its Coimbatore department in an SUV, police assets stated. “When they have been at KG Chavadi, a 10-member gang adopted the SUV in two vehicles and hit at the back of it. When the personnel stopped the SUV, the group members attacked them and took away the jewelry. They left with the SUV, leaving the duo on the highway,” a police officer stated.


The stranded men knowledgeable the Coimbatore rural police, who alerted stations in Tirupur, the Nilgiris and Erode. But police weren't ready to find the group. Police have accrued CCTV footage from the realm and formed 4 special teams to nab the miscreants, superintendent of police R Pandiarajan stated.


Meanwhile, in a commentary, Kalyan Jewellers stated that jewellery price 98.05lakh used to be stolen from its car on the method from Thrissur to Coimbatore. Chairman and managing director TS Kalyanaraman stated that necessary knowledge used to be provided to the authorities for swift motion and restoration of the stolen items.
