NEW DELHI: If you're planning to consult with India Gate or Delhi zoo on January 1, avoid using as police might close the stretches leading to these places to avoid a re-run of the huge snarls that had choked the city ultimate 12 months. Cops be expecting more than 5 lakh folks to gather at these places.

Last 12 months, all roads in south Delhi were given choked as an enormous crowd had accrued near India Gate to have a good time the New Year. The scenario turned into such that further police force needed to be deployed to avoid a law and order problem.

Traffic officials mentioned the surprising surge within the volume of folks is because of better metro connectivity between Delhi and NCR towns. Many folks would be the use of the newly-inaugurated Magenta Line in south Delhi and Pink Line connecting south and east Delhi to gather in these spaces.


Last 12 months, many drivers had parked their cars at the roads adjacent the C-hexagon and walked to Rajpath. Cops needed to stop revellers near Vijay Chowk to stop a ruckus. Access to this prime safety area would be barred this 12 months.


Joint commissioner (site visitors) Alok Kumar mentioned if the pedestrian depend starts swelling, C-hexagon would be barred for site visitors movement. Vehicles would be diverted thru Mathura Road, Sher Shah Road, Zakir Hussain Marg and Pandara Road. The volume of site visitors is expected to head up by nearly 50% because of New Year’s being every week day on these stretches.


The Bhairon Road-Mathura Road stretch between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan will also be closed if the gang swells near the zoo. In this situation, vehicles would be diverted thru Sarai Kale Khan and ITO.
