Mum: 2 caught with 3cr party drug meant for pubs

MUMBAI: A former informer with Hyderabad customs and his companion from Mumbai have been arrested on Monday for possessing 20.4kg ephedrine value Rs3.04 crores. The two-Mohammed Hussain (45) and Dayanand Muddanar (32)-reached Mumbai via street to sell the drug to lounges and pubs for New Year Eve celebrations. The police mentioned the plan was to mix the drug with ice cream or juice or water (to make ice cubes) so that it could be offered to consumers carefully recognized to the managements of the pubs and lounges in question.

Police are amassing data at the institutions the drug was supposed to achieve. Monday's action was according to a piece of information received via further commissioner of police (west) Manoj Sharma, who supervised DCP Paramjit Dahiya in forming a workforce led via inspector Daya Nayak to lay a trap close to Agarwal Industrial Estate in Jogeshwari (West), where the arrests have been made. "The two are peddlers," mentioned Sharma.


Hussain have been arrested via the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in 2013 with medication. "He was in jail for two years. After release, he resumed drug peddling," mentioned inspector Nayak.
