BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested an entrepreneur who allegedly duped other people of a minimum of Rs 100 crore after promising to construct residences for them.

They have recovered a Range Rover and an Audi automobile from Avinash Prabhu, managing director of Skyline Constructions and Housing Pvt Ltd and Kalmane Koffee, a espresso store chain. Police commissioner T Suneel Kumar said, “Avinash and his brother Dhiraj Prabhu collected crores of rupees from other people saying they were developing apartments at Hennur, Horamavu, Yelahanka and Mangaluru however deceived them.”


Kumar said, “He used to take consumers to the location, show them round and acquire a sum in advance. A couple of days later, he would fake that the construction had begun and would once more acquire a large bite of money however after all abandon the buyers. He neither repaid nor built the apartment.”


Christopher Regal not too long ago filed a grievance with Hennur police claiming to have been duped by Avinash. CCB too gained a number of complaints on this regard, following which Kumar transferred the probe to CCB. Additional commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar said after tailing him for a week, Avinash used to be arrested from his workplace on Lavelle Road on Thursday. Police have frozen 15 of his financial institution accounts and have introduced manhunt for Dhiraj.


Police said the probe revealed that Avinash had collected a minimum of Rs 100 crore from 200 other people and purchased five acres of land in Kengeri, 3 acres in Allalasandra, 3 acres in Hennur, 7 acres in Kanakapura, eight.five acres in Mangaluru, part an acre in Chennai and invested money in Kalmane Koffee, which has 11 retailers in Bengaluru. He also has properties outdoor Bengaluru.
