Male elephant dies of electric shock in Odisha

DHENKANAL (ODISHA): A male elephant died of electrocution after coming in contact with a are living electric cord close to a wooded area in Dhenkanal district, officers mentioned.

The jumbo, aged around 35 years, was found dead on Wednesday close to Dudurkote wooded area under the jurisdiction of Hindol wooded area vary within the district, the Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF), Jitendranath Das mentioned.


The elephant's carcass was spotted by means of local citizens and they knowledgeable wooded area officers, Das mentioned including the elephant got here in contact with a are living electric cord, suspected to have been laid by means of some miscreants, to kill wild boars.


An investigation has been initiated and post-mortem exam was being carried out at the carcass of the elephant, Das mentioned.


Efforts are on to identify the miscreants who had laid the electrical cord within the house, police mentioned.


Earlier in October 2018, seven wild elephants died of electrocution after coming in contact with a sagging energy line close to Kamalanga village in the similar district.
