THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala police have registered 143 instances and arrested 260 individuals in Kannur district in the ultimate 48 hours in connection with the violence that began over Sabarimala issue. As many as 19 individuals had been arrested and 33 taken to preventive custody in connection with violence at Thalassery in Kannur since ultimate night.
State police leader Loknath Behera said that police has stepped up the vigil and have deployed sufficient forces to comprise further violence at Thalassery. The police have erected 11 wood posts in the house, and 10 cell patrolling devices have also been pressed into action. Several senior officials had been additionally deployed, including, 3 DSPs, one ASP, six circle inspectors and 10 sub-inspectors caring for house in the wake of hysteria that is prevailing in the house. Kannur SP G Siva Vikram camped here until late night on Thursday to supervise the vigil.
