Sensex crashes 369 points; Nifty ends below 10,700

NEW DELHI: Markets on Monday finished decrease for the second straight session with the benchmark BSE Sensex down greater than 350 points amid weak display by means of financial and pharma stocks. Sensex dived 369 points or 1.02 consistent with cent to near at 35,657, while the wider NSE Nifty misplaced 119 points or 1.10 consistent with cent to settle at 10,662.

On the BSE index, Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Auto and Hero MotorCorp witnessed primary losses with their stocks dropping up to 5.60 consistent with cent. On NSE, sub-indices Nifty Pharma, Private Bank and Financial Services tracked primary losses, down up to 2.55 consistent with cent.

“The issue with Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Service Ltd (IL&FS) is not over, opposite to previous ideals and this is why we see housing finance companies in the pink today,” stated AK Prabhakar, head of analysis, IDBI Capital - Mumbai.

A string of defaults on the primary infrastructure financing and building corporate had brought about sharp falls in the inventory and debt markets last year amid fears of contagion within the remainder of the country’s financial sector.


“There is a wait-and-watch sentiment as a result of the budget,” stated Vinod Nair, head of analysis, Geojit Financial Services, adding, “Earnings this quarter hasn’t been great to this point, and I don’t suppose we will be able to witness earnings growth of even 7 consistent with cent-8 consistent with cent this year.”


Besides weak corporate earnings for the 3rd quarter, agents stated, uncertainties over the high-level business talks between america and China impacted the investors' sentiment.
