Coimbatore: The city police on Wednesday formally arrested BJP functionary Kalyan Raman, who's in Coimbatore central prison, for his blasphemous remarks against Muslims on Facebook.
Kalyan Raman used to be arrested based on a grievance filed on November 18 through Mohammed Nowfal of Karumbukadai with the Kuniyamuthur police.
A police officer said, “Raman had posted remarks on Facebook showing Muslim neighborhood in deficient gentle. The posts were blasphemous in nature and harm the sentiments of Muslims.”
Popular Front of India (PFI) and Indian National League (INL) had additionally petitioned Coimbatore city police commissioner Sumit Sharan in search of motion against Kalyan Raman.TNN
