Complainant accuses CBI of harassment

NAGPUR: A complainant in a case probed via the anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged harassment via the investigative agency, bringing to fore a supposed gray area within the system.

Shantilal Patil, who was once later booked via CBI for having colluded with one of the former officials to border a central executive worker, has now sought justice. He claimed to have helped the investigating agency put brakes at the malpractices and embezzlement of finances in 2013 in a case wherein he was once the complainant.

In due process time, the CBI started to tighten legal noose around Patil until an FIR was once filed against him and others, together with a CBI inspector in 2017. While Patil claimed that the remainder of the accused within the case had been let off via the high court docket for want of proof, he may not get a respite.


Patil, who addressed a press convention within the city on Thursday together with his counsel Sheetal Deshpande, said the CBI, for causes best known to them, were harassing him even supposing he was once affected by a terminal sickness.


“I was whisked clear of my area at Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) via CBI officers from Delhi and interrogated till 2am at a lodge. I am doubly troubled as the accused within the first case against Central Board of Workers’ Education (CBWE) director too has been threatening me on quite a lot of pretexts,” he said.


Patil, whose criticism resulted in the trap of CBWE director for allegedly accepting Rs1 lakh from him in 2013, has now demanded that the case must not be closed via the agency with a prejudiced imaginative and prescient.


Deshpande said the CBI has filed a closure report prior to the court docket within the CBWE case, nevertheless it has been challenged. “We have raised objection and demanded submitting of chargesheet within the CBWE case, which has got substantial floor for prosecution to proceed trial,” she said.
