BOKARO: A member of Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee (BJSAC) of CPI (Maoist), Balbir Mahto alias Roshan alias Charka, surrendered earlier than police in Giridih on Thursday. Mahto was once wearing a praise of Rs 25 lakh on himself and was once concerned in the killing of former Pakur SP Amarjeet Balihar. He had also orchestrated a number of rebel actions in North Chhotanagpur zone.

Soon after he surrendered, Mahto was once given a cash praise of Rs 2 lakh and a cheque of Rs 25 lakh in the presence DIG Pankaj Kamboj and Giridih SP Surender Kumar Jha Mahto at a function attended by way of police and administrative officers in Giridih. Police stated Mahto, who joined as an ordinary cadre, learnt to deal with hands and ammunition soon. He was once then inducted to the armed squad of the then Maoist space commander Prakash Yadav. In 2005, Mahto was once made space committee member. A yr later, he was once arrested and forwarded to Jamui jail. He rejoined the outfit after his unlock in 2011 and was once made the zonal committee member.
