BENGALURU: About part the government-run cars within the city will probably be transformed to electrical via 2019, said state minister for massive and medium scale industries KJ George here on Tuesday.

“The goal is to exchange 50% of petrol and diesel cars utilized by the state government body of workers in Bengaluru to eco-friendly electrical cars (EV) via 2019,” he said while speaking at the Future Mobility Show 2019, organised via the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

He said urban construction department is also amending the development bylaws to mandate 10-20% automobile parking space for EV charging issues. “The government is considering preferential parking for EVs and good enough signage within the city to steer electrical car owners to the nearest e-charging slots,” he said.

“Karnataka was once one of the vital first states in India to grasp the potential of electrical mobility. Today, the state has emerged as a entrance runner within the sector, made up our minds to play a very important role in using EV penetration”.

BHEL unveils e-bus


Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a central authority undertaking has unveiled a prototype of an air-conditioned electrical bus. The electrical bus, which unveiled at the Future Mobility Show, could have a seating capability of 43. Once it is absolutely charged, it is going to run as much as 150km. The most velocity of the BHEL’s e-bus is 75kmph. It may even have amenities like Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, LED show board and GPS.


S Balakrishnan, director, Industrial Systems and Products, BHEL, said they'd equipped 300 battery powered cars between 1987 and 2004.
