"Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) (Amendment) Act, 2019 (Goa Act 6 of 2019), which has been passed by the legislative assembly of Goa on January 31, 2019, and assented to by the governor of Goa is hereby published for the general information of the public," Dnyaneshwar Raut Dessai, joint secretary (legislation), stated.
"Any person found violating shall be liable to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 to the competent authority or any other officers authorised by it in this behalf. Where such violation is committed by more than one person in a group, such group shall be liable to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. In case such person refuses to pay such amount, he shall be liable to punishment," the bill had mentioned.
"No person engaged in business of sale of liquor shall allow its customer to carry bottles/cans containing liquor in tourist place," the bill had additional discussed.
Tourists consuming on seashores and creating a nuisance of themselves has transform a serious problem within the state. Recently, deputy speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo had even blamed chief minister Manohar Parrikar for letting the problem develop to such huge proportions.
