Panchmahal farmer held for growing 435kg marijuana

VADODARA: A farmer in Shehra taluka of Panchmahal was arrested on Wednesday midnight for growing marijuana in his maize farm at Vaghjipur village.

The particular operations staff (SOG) of Panchmahal police had won information that the accused Pratap Bariya had grown marijuana in his farm at Vaghjipur village in Shehra. On the foundation of the tip-off, SOG sleuths raided Bariya’s farm where he had grown maize. When the police officers reached the farm, Bariya was provide there.

The police took Bariya around the farm to find the marijuana. “The maize crop were eight-foot tall, so first of all we assumed that it would be difficult to find the marijuana. But the accused had sown many marijuana plants along with maize,” said a police reliable.


Bariya had sown the unlawful crop alongside each maize crop. While discovering the vegetation weren't difficult, getting rid of them and seizing it grew to become out to be a difficult process because it weighed 435 kilogram. Police said that the marketplace price of the crop can be Rs 43.5 lakh.


Police were given the crop checked through forensic mavens at the spot. When wondered, Bariya said that he had were given the seeds from one Ahmed Yusuf Pinjara, who lives in the same village.


The accused additionally admitted that he used to promote the crop to Pinjara for a set amount. When police officers went to arrest Pinjara at his home, he was not there.
