BENGALURU: For its airport go back and forth carrier, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has a fleet of cushty, air-conditioned Volvo buses – ‘Vayu Vajra' – which attach the airport and the city through a number of routes.
A passenger’s tweet on Wednesday evening highlighting the exorbitant value for a journey within the Vayu Vajra bus has been gaining traction on social media.
K R Balasubramanyam's tweet highlights the fare difference between an AC bus journey in Kochi and the fare charged by means of the BMTC Vayu Vajra.
He wrote: “Took a low-floor AC bus in Kochi this morning for a 30-km journey to airport which value me Rs 69. After touchdown in Bengaluru, took BMTC Vayu Vajra which collected Rs 234 for a 40-km journey. @BMTC_BENGALURU fares are exorbitant yet the software stories losses. Needs a major soul-search.”
