Patan town celebrates its 1,273rd Foundation Day

Palanpur: Historical Patan city of north Gujarat celebrated its 1,273rd Foundation Day on Monday.
The festivities integrated a grand procession taken out to highlight chevalier of the soldiers of the previous and the prevailing. Besides former ruler of Shirohi (Rajasthan) Raguveersinhji, Mansinh Vaghela of Deodar, Prince Ajaypalsinh of Adesar (Kutch) several Rajput police officers participated in the festivities.

Besides horses, decorated chariots and carts had been the primary attraction. This was accompanied via colourfull tribal dance that enthralled the audience.


Amidst bands paying songs the Shobha Yatra (grand procession) began from Kalika Mata temple and passed through necessary places before terminating at Bhagwada gate.


According an organizer Mahipatsinh Jadeja, president of Patan District Youth Rajput Sangh, Patan was established 1273 years in the past. As consistent with Gujarati calendar it was Maha Sud seventh day of Samvat 802 when Vanrajsinh Chawda laid foundation of the historical the city.


Jadeja said, “The celebration assumed significance as Rani ki Wav, now not only attained status of global heritage website online, but was revealed on Indian forex notice of Rs 100.”
