Pulwama attack: 2 jawans from TN among dead

CHENNAI: Two jawans from Tamil Nadu have been amongst round 40 CRPF group of workers who died in a suicide terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday. The two deceased jawans from the state had been identified as G Subramanian from Tuticorin district and C Sivachandran from Ariyalur district.

Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday condoled the deaths of the two CRPF jawans and sanctioned Rs 20 lakh each and every to their families. "I condole the deaths of Subramanian and Sivachandran. I have ordered to release Rs 20 lakh to the families immediately," said Palaniswami in a press unlock.


Subramanian, who hailed from Savalapperi close to Kovilpatti in Tuticorin, had joined CRPF about five years in the past after finishing ITI training. He had earlier worked in Chennai in Uttar Pradesh. He married Krishnaveni less than two years in the past.


Subramanian came house for Pongal and returned on Sunday ultimate. His father, Ganapathi, said Subramanian had spoken to Krishnaveni round 2pm on Thursday and advised her that he used to be going for duty. That used to be his ultimate dialog with the family.


Sivachandran hailed from Karkudi village in Ariyalur district. He is survived by his wife Gandhimathi and 2-year-old son Sivamuniyan. His family members said that Gandhimathi used to be four months pregnant. Sivachandran left the village on February nine.
