Rs 16 cr to boost Vedic research

Varanasi: In the state Budget 2019-20 introduced on Thursday, the UP govt has made a provision of Rs. 16 crore for the Vaidik Vigyan Kendra (Centre for Vedic Research) of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the root of this centre, which is first of its sort within the country, during a consult with to the city in September 2018.
Earlier, the UP govt had supplied Rs. 12 crore for the development of the construction and Rs. 2 crore for infrastructure development. The building work is in growth and anticipated to be completed by the tip of the year. The centre is being established to discover the overlooked historical Indian Vedic corpus associated with various sciences and conduct multidisciplinary analysis.

“It is a superb gesture of the state govt to provide price range to this central university to spice up researches in applied Vedic science,” stated head of the department of Veda Upendra Kumar Tripathi.

He added the development work of the construction used to be underway and is predicted to finish by year-end.

He stated both long-term and temporary analysis tasks on various subjects can be undertaken besides offering classes up to PhD level.

The centre would get ready route material on Vedic medical wisdom to incorporate existing classes and to fill the absence of Vedic sciences in various medical texts these days taught in educational establishments.

The centre would also accumulate Vedic manuscripts for publication. There can be a contemporary state-of-art analysis laboratory for study and analysis at the impact of Vedic mantras, rituals, yoga and meditation on human mind thru neuro-psychological studies.


The centre is being established to discover the previous glory of Vedic sciences and popularize them. The main targets of the centre include preparation of reference paperwork/books, formalization of medical study of various sides of Vedic intellectual heritage, promotion of logical and medical achievements of Vedic seers and students, collaboration with analysis establishments of national and world repute to conduct joint analysis programmes, he added.
