Swedish giant IKEA eyes Bengal for its 2nd store

KOLKATA: After Hyderabad, Bengal might grow to be the second vacation spot within the country for Swedish house furnishings large IKEA. Ikea had arrange its first retailer in India in Hyderabad in August 2018.

Mitra indicated that the Swedish furnishings major is scouting for land within the state. “As some distance as I know they would look for land with correct connectivity. They will select land which is in song with their industry philosophy,” he added.


The minister had previous said IKEA might make Bengal one in all its procurement hubs in India for its international operations. IKEA India challenge chief (new industry construction) Ritesh Singh, when he used to be within the city closing year, had indicated that West Bengal featured in its procurement plan from India. Mitra also added that DP World is raring to participate in Tajpur deep sea port. “If there may be bidding for partner then it will bid for that,” he said. DP World has already announced to revive the challenge of putting in a container port terminal in Kulpi with an estimated funding of Rs three,000 crore.


Incidentally, DP World has 74% stake within the special objective vehicle for this whilst Keventer has 21% and WBIDC has five%.
