PATNA: Police on Thursday arrested some of the six people who had allegedly gang-raped a 20-year-old woman after tying the hands and legs of her father with ropes at Patthar Ghatti village under the Korobari police station area in Kishanganj district, around 400km from here, on February five.
The subject got here to mild on Wednesday after the lady’s members of the family lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday. The arrested person has been known as Mohammad Kasim (32).
SHO of Korobari police station Suraj Kumar said police have introduced a manhunt to arrest the other five accused – Faiz Alam (30), Abdul Mannan (27), Kalua (28), Ansar Alam (33) and Takhseer Alam (30). All the six accused are residents of different villages under Korobari police station.
Kishanganj SP Kumar Ashish, who visited the village on Wednesday, said consistent with the lady’s commentary, the six accused reached her hut on three bikes around 2am.
“While her father used to be drowsing on a cot outside the hut, the lady used to be drowsing inside of. Her mother and other members of the family weren't at house. The six requested the lady’s father to give them water to drink. When the lady’s father went inside the hut to bring water, the accused spotted her. They soon barged into the hut and overpowered her father,” the SP added.
He said the accused tied the hands and legs of the lady’s father and wrapped his eyes with a work of material earlier than leaving him outside the hut. “The six dragged the lady to a close-by dense box and raped her. They fled after committing the crime, leaving the lady in pain,” the SP said.
“According to locals, the six accused steadily used to bother women and girls at Patthar Ghatti and neighbouring villages. However, the villagers by no means complained towards them. Faiz, some of the six accused, has criminal antecedents,” he said.
The SP added the lady’s medical examination used to be conducted on Wednesday and the document used to be awaited. “The clothes of the lady may not be sent for forensic analysis as they had been washed after the incident,” he said.
