4 get life term in Shettigar murder case

UDUPI: Udupi district and sessions courtroom on Thursday handed lifestyles imprisonment to 4 convicts in rowdy Vinod Shettigar murder case and acquitted one. Vinod used to be murdered eight years ago at Anjar village.

The accused, Muttappa alias Suresh Balegara, 36, from Brahmavar, his brother Nagaraja Balegara, 33, Shaikh Riyaz Ahmed, 33, of Mysuru, and Saranappa Amarapur, 33, of Koppal district had been convicted in the case.


District and sessions pass judgement on Chandra Shekhar M Joshi, who had heard the case, on Wednesday declared the 4 accused in the case as guilty, and ordered punishment on Thursday. One more accused, Raghavendra, has been acquitted in the case. Rowdy Pitti Nagesh, who planned the murder, used to be killed on September 11, 2014.


Muttappa, Riyaz and Saranappa, who's in Dharwad prison, and Nagaraj from Belgaum prison had been wondered through video conferences. Shanti Bai, the district senior prosecutor, argued the case.
