Sports dept to conduct marathon to encourage voting

Ludhiana: With election not far away, Punjab sports activities department will organise a state-level marathon on Sunday to inspire vote casting among public. The department is also urging young sportsmen beneath its care to head out and vote in massive numbers. The department runs 12 sports activities centres wherein hundreds of young sportsmen are being educated.

A meeting was once held beneath the supervision of Ravinder Singh, district sports activities officer, at Guru Nanak stadium on Friday, wherein coaches from the 12 sports activities coaching centres gained directions to inspire young wards beneath their care to head out and vote. “There are a number of first time voters who were getting educated in our centres. The department is urging these children to participate within the Lok Sabha elections and elect the best candidate in step with their wish,” mentioned Ravinder Singh.

He additionally added that the state-level marathon across the district, which shall be performed on Sunday, could have more than 300 trainees of various sports activities centres participating. “These sportsmen will inspire the society to take part in election pro-actively,” mentioned Ravinder Singh.
