PANAJI: The 35-m-high northern tower of the 16th century Portuguese-era church in Old Goa, as soon as known as the largest church in Asia, was once by no means reconstructed after a powerful lightning bolt destroyed it in 1776. With every system offering coverage in a 80m radius, the full price of putting in the tool — Rs four.five lakh apiece and two every in primary monuments — is Rs 1.1crore.
“Lightning is a major incidence and a danger to monuments in rain fed areas. However, anywhere the new system has been installed the impact of lightning has been considerably nullified,” Shastri says.
An ASI legit stated that many tall monuments in different parts of India, particularly the Taj Mahal and temples in South India had been provided with this generation. But some monuments, which are small and in low-intensity rainfall zone, don't require the security.
New system has benefits over standard copper strip
