‘Act against SAD leaders for roadblock’

JALANDHAR: Enclosing copies of FIRs registered in opposition to SAD president Sukhbir Badal and different senior leaders, including Bikram Majithia and sitting MLAs of the birthday celebration, in December 2017 for blocking off national highways at different places in December 2017, an RTI activist has despatched illustration to the ECI and chief electoral officer, Punjab, urging them to issue appropriate orders to the police about those instances.


Attaching replies given by police of various districts beneath the RTI Act, the illustration has also identified that the police had mentioned that they had been trying to arrest those Akali leaders however had now not be successful till date.


Mentioning names of 18 Akali leaders, including Sukbbir, Majithia, Khadoor Sahib MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, MLAs Pawan Teenu, Baldev Singh Khaira, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, RTI activist Kuldip Singh Khaira in his illustration has mentioned that none of them has either been arrested or have secured bail and investigation has been lingering for the closing one-and-a-half years because of their political affect. "We have already requested the DGP as well SSPs concerned to refer the case to the court of law, but in vain," he has mentioned. In their replies to applications filed by Parvinder Singh Kitna, another RTI activist, police of Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar (rural) districts have revealed that investigations in most of these instances had been nonetheless on and not one of the leaders named in the FIRs had secured bails they usually had been but to be arrested.
