Belagavi: The resolution of the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) to centralize the method of approving development plans is inflicting lot of inconvenience to the public.
In the hot funds meeting of the council, councillor Dinesh Nashipudi protested on the door of the meeting corridor challenging the decentralization of offering approval to development plans.
Earlier, development permissions for up to 2,400 sqft space was once given thru BCC’s 4 divisional offices, which was once convenient for the folk. Residents of southern Belagavi used to get permissions from the divisional offices within the two BCC complexes in Goaves Circle while folks within the norther parts would pass to the offices in Konwal Galli and Vishweshwaraiah Nagar.
However, BCC decided to centralize the method forcing all citizens to head its central place of job in Ashok Nagar to get development permission. Now citizens are compelled to shuttle an extended distance to apply for development permissions. With just place of job handling the entire applications, it's taking much longer for BCC to approve development plans.
Some citizens say that earlier they'd get approval for development plans witin seven to 10 days and no longer it's taking no less than 15 to 20 days.
Some citizens say the web device to apply for development permission is not working correctly. The candidates allege that BCC government don’t even test and respond to applications made on-line even for a month.
Jeevan Patil, a resident of Mahantesh Nagar, said earlier there were 8 engineers to check development plan applications within the 4 divisional offices. However, now, simplest 4 engineers are posted within the development permission phase within the central place of job leading to extend in disposal of applications, he said.
When contacted, mayor Basappa Chikkaldinni said he was once made conscious about the issues that arose with the centralizing of creating permission procedure. “Numerous people are complaining in regards to the new device.
