MUMBAI: Eight months after their minor son died under mysterious instances after being detained by way of Dharavi police for cell robbery, the Jaiswar family has now not but claimed his body.
The body of 17-year-old Sachin Jaiswar continues to lie at JJ Hospital morgue while the family runs from pillar to publish to check in an FIR in opposition to Dharavi police station officials who they alleged tortured him. "We want justice and until an FIR is registered against the policemen responsible for my son's death, I will not conduct his last rites," stated Ravindra Jaiswar, a resident of Dharavi.
Ravindra alleged even Bombay HC has refused to entertain his petition after the crime department probe gave a blank chit to the cops.
"We have sought CCTV footage of Dharavi police station of July 13 night under the RTI Act when my son was detained, but they have refused to give it saying inquiry is on," stated Sachin's mother, Indu. Their attraction against this resolution is pending, stated Imran Shaikh, a social activist pursuing the case.
The post-mortem report submitted by way of the crime department states pneumonia used to be the cause of Sachin's death. Police have ruled out foul play and stated they had been expecting forensic studies.
"It is rubbish. Forty-eight hours after being released, Sachin had told us the cops had beaten him with bamboo sticks and forced him to admit to the crime, which he had not committed. This bolsters our argument that Sachin died of third-degree torture and developed pneumonia as he was locked inside the toilet and forced to drink the dirty water inside," added Ravindra Jaiwar.
Jaiswar had earlier approached the Bandra Justice of the Peace court looking for an FIR in opposition to the law enforcement officials concerned.
Sachin used to be detained on July 13, 2018 for stealing the mobile phone of a adolescence close to Dharavi bus depot. He used to be let off on July 14 nighttime. The next day, he developed a fever. His health subsequently deteriorated and he died on July 21.
