COIMBATORE: Expressing anguish over the rape and murder of a seven-year-old woman at Kasthurinaickenpudur near here, Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan stated if youngsters were not ready to play even inside 20toes in their home, it didn't augur smartly for the state.
"This has to change. We have to treat all children as ours. Only then such incidents won't happen," he stated. Kamal visited Kasthurinaickenpudur near Pannimadai on Friday and met the oldsters of the victim who was once raped and murdered via unknown individuals.
Addressing the media, he stated the oldsters felt they didn't get justice for the horror perpetrated on their daughter. They thought the police probe is proceeding at a snail's pace. "I believe police will do their duty," he stated.
"I don't want to accuse police. But they have to speed up the investigation. This is important than general election," stated Kamal. He stated he asked for an appointment to meet the Inspector General of Police, West Zone. But, police denied it claiming the IGP was once busy with election paintings.
"I am also doing election work. The Election Commission of India did not give permission in many places and did not allow us to do our election work in many places. Such incidents should never happen and like you, I am also angry and anguished by the incident," he stated.
On Tuesday, BJP's C P Radhakrishnan visited CMCH the place the girl's body was once introduced for post-mortem. His consult with was once met with stiff resistance and he needed to leave in a huff as her relatives, who have been extremely agitated , argued with him.
