Couple held for stealing national shooter's bag

MUMBAI: A couple was arrested here for allegedly stealing former nationwide shooter Vishwajeet Shinde's belongings, including his capturing equipment containing reside cartridges, while he was travelling in a train, police said on Sunday.

The incident happened remaining Friday when Shinde, who works with the Western Railway, was on approach to Mumbai from Delhi within the Sampark Kranti Express, an professional on the Bandra railway police station said.

During the journey, Shinde realised that his belongings, including his capturing equipment containing 3,800 reside cartridges supposed for follow, were stolen following which he informed the railway police, he said.

While probing the incident, the police checked the CCTV footage of Bandra railway station which showed Lalit Manojkumar Dhingan (28) and his spouse Jyoti (25), both citizens of Antop Hill space here, getting down from the similar train along side Shinde's bag and taking a cab, he said.

The police controlled to traced the cab and its driver informed that he dropped the couple at Antop Hill, he said.


They also controlled to locate the rail price tag PNR collection of the 2 accused and got their pictures which were circulated within the space, the professional said.


Acting on a particular tip-off, the police raided the place of dwelling of the accused on Saturday evening, he said.


The professional said all the way through interrogation, the couple admitted to the theft and the police later recovered Shinde's bag and capturing equipment from them, he said.


Both the accused were due to this fact arrested. They were on Sunday produced prior to a local courtroom which remanded them in police custody, he added.
