NEW DELHI: The executive has once more prolonged its cut-off date to impose retaliatory customs tasks on 29 US products, including almond, walnut and pulses, until May 2. A notification of the finance ministry mentioned that implementation of increased customs responsibility on specified imports originating in the US has been postponed from April 1, 2019 to May 2, this 12 months.

The executive has prolonged this cut-off date over half a dozen instances since June 2018, when it decided to impose these tasks in retaliation to a move by means of the US to impose prime customs tasks on certain metal and aluminium products.

India is pushing the dates as either side are negotiating a commerce package to spice up bilateral commerce. But earlier this month, the US decided to withdraw export incentives being supplied by means of them to Indian exporters for certain items under generalised device of personal tastes (GSP) programme.

The executive is considering to send a delegation to the US earlier next month to carry discussions on techniques to unravel all trade-related problems.
