Dharwad building collapse: Death toll reaches 14

DHARWAD: While the NDRF continued its rescue operation, toll within the crashed building reached 14 on Friday. So some distance, 56 folks were rescued from the website online. The rescue crew has misplaced hope of any survivors and started clearing the debris the use of heavy equipment. The whole operation may conclude in a couple of days and the one factor that is still is to shift the debris and transparent the area.

One person known as Somu Ramanagouda used to be rescued alive this morning. Somu from Chikkaulligeri village works in JDS place of work which used to be situated within the ill-fated building.

Stuck within the debris for 30 hours, Prema Unakal and Dawal Sab have been shifted to the Civil Hospital. Their rescue raised hopes of extra survivors. The rescue crew roped in more manpower to speed up the operation. Prema Unkal used to be rescued around 1.30am on Thursday. However, the body of her daughter Divya used to be retrieved around midday.


The 11 deceased were known as Kamalakshi Mudholmath, 52, Ismailsab Takked, 22, Dakshayani Mattur, 35, Sangamesh Manvi, 35, Garijappa Lakkundi, 48, Divya Unakal, eight, Salim Makandar, 35, Ashit Hiremath, 28, Mehboobsab Desai, 48, Mehboobsab Raichur, 50, Aslam Sheikh, 50. The identity of 1 deceased is yet to be ascertained.


Thousands of folks, including family members of trapped folks, anxiously waited with faint hope. Their cries rented the air as bodies have been being retrieved from the website online and shifted to Civil Hospital for postmortem.


As the digging paintings commenced, dust filled the air inflicting breathlessness to the rescuers. Water cannons have been used for the dust to settle. Volunteers from NGOs supplying water bottles, glucose, juice, end result and ice-cream chocolates to the rescue crew participants.
