VIJAYAWADA: Migrant workers are taking part in a key function in election campaigns across the town. With the elections coming near rapid, the call for for migrant workers has higher as political events across AP are offering up to 1,500 in line with head for six hours campaign.

Vijayawada is the major hub for migrant workers and around 15,000 migrant workers from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Rayalaseema area are living here. Benz Circle, Satyanarayanapuram, Madhuranagar are primary hubs for migrant workers. Most of them were mason workers and Hamali workers.


Major political events are accomplishing massive rallies and campaigns across the town and hiring migrant workers. "Political campaigns are helping us to make money. Politicians across the district are engaging us for their campaigns and providing free food and travel along with wage," said Kempu Anjiah a employee from Raajam.


"I migrated to Vijayawada a month ago from Markapuram of Prakasam district. One of my friends explained the high wages given to the workers who participate in campaigns. Three members of my family are participating in campaigns and we will go back to my home town to vote for my favourite contestant.," Gurram Venkata Prasad, a employee said.


Major political events are accomplishing massive rallies and hiring migrant workers. Most of these workers do not need votes in the town and say they are collaborating for the great wages.
