Ex-bureaucrat set to contest on BJP ticket

BENGALURU: Retired IAS officer M Lakshminarayan seems set to contest the general election on a BJP price ticket from Chitradurga reserved constituency. The retired bureaucrat has already met several state leaders together with state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa had expressed his need to stand for election. The party is believed to have given him a positive response.

“Yes, I'm meaning to contest from Chitradurga as a BJP candidate,” Lakshminarayan said. “I've already mentioned my candidacy with state BJP leaders and I'm hopeful that I can get the price ticket,” Lakshminarayan, who retired from the service a couple of months ago, advised TOI.

A local of Kolar district, Lakshminarayan was once always just about the state BJP leaders and served as essential secretary to Jagadish Shettar and further chief secretary to Yeddyurappa all through his three- day tenure as chief minister last year.

Besides Lakshminarayana, former MP Janardhan Swamy and Basavamurthy Madar Chennaiah, a seer of Madiga community, also are within the race. Swamy, who left his lucrative IT activity in the US to hunt a career in politics, represented the constituency in 2009. He was once defeated within the 2014 election.
