Rajkot: Three individuals were arrested on Saturday for allegedly abducting a 12-year-old son of a manufacturing unit owner from Bhavnagar late night time on Friday. The accused — Tosif alias Ghoghari Juneja (19), Gafar Thaiyam (36) and Iqbal allies Chini Fakir (19) — were arrested from Dholera within the wee hours of Saturday and brought back to Bhavnagar.
All 3 accused work as labourers and had deliberate the kidnapping in advance. Police said that the accused had done recce of the family and the boy’s faculty and tuition timings.
According to police, manufacturing unit owner Mitul Rathod’s 12-year-old son Abhay used to be abducted from their place of abode in posh Shashtrinagar space on Bhavnagar-Rajkot highway on Friday when he used to be on his way to tuition classes.
Two individuals came in an autorickshaw and kidnapped the boy. The family came to grasp about the kidnapping when Abhay’s tuition instructor called up his folks over his absence. When they started looking for Abhay, some kids taking part in on the flooring near their house knowledgeable them that they had observed a child being taken in an autorickshaw.
Rathod knowledgeable Nilambaug police station following which police officers checked the CCTV footages on the road and traced the autorickshaw wherein the child used to be kidnapped.
The accused, who were on their way to Ahmedabad, were arrested from Bhadiad (Pir) near Dholera where the autorickshaw driving force had to stay up for an Urs procession to cross.
“The motive of the kidnapping used to be ransom. But sooner than they could demand anything else we arrested the accused,” deputy superintendent of police Manish Thakar instructed TOI.
When asked how the accused were traced Thakar said, “The boy’s father got one telephone call from the accused which lasted for just about 22 seconds. Based on that call we got the path wherein they were headed.” Police said that interrogation of the accused would reveal extra main points on motive and others concerned within the conspiracy.
