Farmers who held up SDM in office for 30 hours booked

PATIALA: The Sangrur police on Friday registered a case towards farmers for holding up Dhuri SDM Satwant Singh and other staffers in the place of work for over 30 hours while protesting towards the lengthen in the unencumber of sugarcane dues through a non-public sugar mill.

The motion was once initiated after 3 worker bodies - PCS govt officials' association of Punjab, state earnings officials' association and Punjab state DC place of work employees' association - threatened to head on a pen-down strike.

The farmers were at loggerheads with the control of Bhagwanpura Sugar Mill, Dhuri, in quest of unencumber of their sugarcane dues. The farmers were protecting a protest outdoor the mill and on March 25, they assembled outdoor the SDM place of work at Dhuri and blocked all access and exit issues, disallowing the staffers to go away the place of work for over 30-hours.

Deputy commissioner Gyansham Thori stated a DDR were filed on March 26, which was once converted into an FIR on Friday. While 4 farmers have been named in the police file, the rest are yet to be recognized.

He stated at the side of Sangrur SSP, he would meet the DGP and chief minister's secretary on Monday and can apprise them of the current scenario.
