Father seeks end to girl's 'miserable life'

AHMEDABAD: Vaidehi Rajgor would flip 24 on May 30 this summer season. Her father, alternatively, is pleading sooner than the Gujarat high court to place an end to her 'depressing existence' claiming that she is nothing but a "living dead body".

Devendra Rajgor, who runs a scientific retailer within the town, has moved the HC looking for permission for 'passive euthanasia' for Vaidehi who suffers from cerebral palsy, a neurological situation which causes everlasting motion problems in patients. It is reported to be some of the common varieties of adolescence disability.

Rajgor's advocate Anvesh Vyas relied at the 2018 Supreme Court order which has permitted passive euthanasia for terminally sick patients by doing away with life-support gadget.

He has requested the HC to direct scientific government to examine Vaidehi's case and constitute a committee to arrange a report on her disease on foundation of which the court can further direct government to place an end to her existence.

Court seeks response from executive


On listening to the case on Wednesday, Justice A Y Kogje sought reply from the state executive and the scientific superintendent of the Civil Hospital at the issue. Further listening to is posted on April three.


In his petition, Rajgor submitted that Vaidehi is elder of his two daughters, born on May 30, 1995. Six months after her start, the family came to understand that she used to be affected by Cerebral Palsy which has no treatment. Rajgor mentioned Vaidehi's situation has been worsening with each passing day. She has been confined to bed since her start as is dependent on members of the family to transport her from one position to some other. The father submitted further that her daughter is in no place to recuperate from this illness and would have to spend her whole existence in the same situation. “The drawback isn't not up to curse for her. She is in a position to understand but her frame does no longer assist her. This is a pitiable situation for her in addition to for her members of the family,” he stated and added, “In other words, she is not more than a living lifeless frame.” The call for from Vaidehi’s father seems to have manifested from the parents’ frustration and worry for their daughter's long run as advocate Vyas mentioned that mother is diabetic and the father has just lately detected with a brain tumour.
