Man tries to smuggle Rs 20 lakh gold in turban at Jaipur airport, detained

JAIPUR: The customs division at Jaipur International Airport stuck a man trying to smuggle 673 grams of gold, approximately worth Rs 20 lakh, inside of his turban. The man was on a flight from Bangkok.


In the primary quarter of the year itself, the customs division at Jaipur Airport has seized over 3 kg of gold being carried into the rustic illegally. Most of those seizures had been constituted of passengers travelling from Dubai and Thailand.


The man detained has been identified as 40-year-old Sandeep Singh, who's a resident of New Delhi. He had allegedly hidden the gold in his turban and in keeping with assets, the customs division had a tip-off about Singh smuggling the metal. Officials claim that Singh confessed to being a seasoned peddler and had travelled to more than a few airports from Bangkok. He would acquire the gold from Thailand and get it into India illegally, the place he would sell it for benefit. Authorities are trying to get extra details about his earlier, if any, arrests in any an identical case.
