More grads test their skills in political arena

VIJAYAWADA: Amongst three,989 contestants for 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, 52% of them are graduates.

An analysis of the election affidavits from major political avid gamers means that the choice of skilled applicants has long past up through 6% compared with 2014.

Only 2,180 applicants contested in 2014 assembly polls, 45% not up to in 2019. Around TDP 116 applicants and 110 YSRC applicants grasp commencement or post-graduation certificates. Remaining applicants have studied up to Class 10 or intermediate.

YSRC could also be fielding a former IAS officer and previous MP Varaprasad Rao Velagapalli for Gudur assembly constituency.


In 2014, around 1,011 applicants who contested held tutorial qualification of commencement or above.


Out of which, handiest 119 of them emerged as winners. While extra highly qualified applicants stand in the fray this 12 months around the state. Experts nonetheless predict that the caste factor may even stand as a major participant in deciding the elections.
