THANE: Mumbra police have booked a girl physician, who has some extent in Unani medication, on fees of a botched-up abortion resulting in the death of a girl.
According to the police, the accused, Jahida Anwar Hafiz, carried out the abortion on the victim, Salma Shaikh, 34, of Mumbra. However, Shaikh developed complications and died at Nair Hospital on May 19, 2016.
The complainant in the case is sub-inspector Shravan Shinde who has said a case of accidental death was once registered in 2016. The victim's tissues have been sent for a clinical examination to JJ Hospital the place a five- member crew of docs was once shaped to enter the case, the FIR said.
Last month, the Mumbra police got the committee record in line with which it registered an offence against the physician. The physician has been booked for culpable murder not amounting murder and likewise for violation of the abortion laws.
Inspector RB Valatkar stated, "We have issued a notice to the accused doctor and we will record her statement first. The accused has claimed she did not conduct the abortion."
The deceased's husband, Shabir Shaikh, 34, who works as an AC mechanic, has 5 kids to look after now. "I have been following the case for the past 3 years and I used to be made to run from pillar to publish for justice for my spouse.
