No ban on articles of faith during HCS exam, clarifies HPSC

AMBALA: The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) chairman Manbir Singh Bhadana sought to elucidate that there would be no restrictions on initiated Sikh applicants carrying non secular symbols into the examination halls during the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) preliminary examination scheduled to be held on Sunday. The applicants would have go through frisking and checking consistent with laws, Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) Sharandeep Kaur Brar mentioned.

On Friday, positive teams had posted on social media a copy of an alleged order that mentioned that any non secular symbol must now not be carried into the examination centre. Besides, there have been also reports that ‘kakaars’ have been banned in HPSC examination. This used to be followed through Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal calling the verdict unsuitable and promising to take it up with the Haryana govt on Saturday.

Even Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal had suggested Haryana chief minister Manohal Lal Khattar to invite the HPSC now not put a ban on symbols in their faith.

On the other hand, HPSC officials mentioned that some Sikh organisations mistakenly related the ‘non secular signs’ discussed in the announcement to the five-kakaars carried through Baptised Sikhs.

They added that it used to be in connection with one of the crucial non secular signs, like Om, Khanda, the Cross and spiritual lockets, which might be continuously worn through some in the type of jewelry or adorns.

HPSC Chairman, Manbir Singh Bhadana mentioned, “As in step with the standard apply, we cannot allow one of these item into the examination hall which may well be used as a weapon. Even bangles or Kara are not allowed into the examination hall due to positive problems associated with breach of truthful conduction of exam, as there are several high-tech applied sciences available in the market which may well be used for cheating.”

“We have appealed to the applicants that they should now not put on one of these pieces. However, in the circumstances of religion and spiritual sentiments, on March 30, we have issued every other announcement at the web site that applicants wearing objects of religion are allowed to go into in the examination centres best after proper checking/frisking and scanning to ensure no cheating subject material (in bodily or digital shape) carried inside,” he added.
