Parents slap school with notice over fees, books

Taking its struggle towards school charges and enforcement of rules over purchase of books, no less than 23 folks from Mansukhbhai Kothari National School, Kondhwa, have sent a prison notice to the college, claiming that the college is over-charging and forcing them to buy books from the dealer appointed by the college.

The school, alternatively, follows Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, which states that colleges cannot drive folks to buy books from explicit distributors and should factor the commonly to be had books published by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

Wajid Khan Bidkar, advocate for the fogeys, who sent the attention, mentioned, "The legitimate fee that the school should have charged is Rs 10,000, but parents are being forced to pay a higher sum and asked to buy books and school kits from the school only through cash payment. This is unfair. Parents can pay through any mode such as cheque, DD and online transfer."

He added, "The school is using books that are not published by NCERT and compelling parents to buy those from the school alone."

The prison notice also mentions that the college is charging Rs three,000 extra from folks for track classes and compelling them to pay charges for extra-curricular activities, which were by no means a tradition within the school. It also mentions that folks tried to put up the prison notice to the college, however the school refused to accept it; therefore the same was submitted via publish .


Pradnya Gokhale, most important of Mansukhbhai Kothari National School, mentioned, "We had not increased any term fee for last two years and neither have we forced parents to buy books and kits from a particular vendor. It would be difficult for parents to source the books from various vendors; therefore we merely suggested them to buy the materials from a particular vendor. The same books are available in the market as well. To maintain uniformity, we have the school's logo printed on the notebooks."

She added, "We have not received any legal notice as of now. Even before this academic year, it has been an usual practice for parents to buy books and stationery from the school. Also, regarding music class, it is again not a compulsion but a choice. For other students, we have arrangements for various other extra-curricular activities. The school management is also speaking to parents and taking cognisance of their complaints."
