Paresh Dhanani’s kin get seven years in jail in 1997 cheating case

RAJKOT: A court in Amreli convicted two individuals together with Shambhu Dhanani, uncle of Congress chief Paresh Dhanani, in reference to a 1997 fund embezzlement and cheating case. The court sentenced them to seven years in prison and imposed tremendous of Rs four.80lakh in 3 other instances.
Shambhu may be member of Amreli District Panchayat. He was once also chairman of district panchayat’s construction committee.

Chief judicial Justice of the Peace Dr. M S Pande sentenced Shambhu and Abdul Chauhan to seven years in jail and imposed tremendous of Rs four.80 after discovering the duo to blame of cheating.

According to case details, Shabmbhu and Chauhan were employees of Amreli Nagrik Sahkari Bank as a cashier and account clerk respectively.


As per the grievance registered by way of the bank, the accused duo had allegedly embezzled just about Rs 2 lakh of the bank. They used to receive the cash from the shoppers and make entries of their passbooks, but the same amount was once not mirrored in bank’s ledger.


They were booked underneath IPC phase 406, 420 and 114.


Talking to TOI, assistant public prosecutor M J Dindor mentioned, “Shambhu was once convicted in two instances and Chauhan was once convicted in 3 cheating instances. The 3rd accused died all the way through the trial.” Both accused were despatched to custody quickly after the court gave its judgment.
