Rs 1.28 crore unaccounted cash seized from Vapi

Surat: In first case of money seizure within the state forward of Lok Sabha elections, police and income tax division in Valsad’s Vapi seized Rs1.28 crore from angadia firms and some other persons previously two days until Friday.

Official assets said the investigation wing of Vapi income tax division had gained information about unaccounted cash within the ownership of a few angadia firms in Govind Complex in Vapi the city. The I-T sleuths recovered Rs75 lakh cash from them on Friday.


Sources said Rs52 lakh was once seized from Patel Arvind Kantilal, Rs8 lakh from Ishwar Somabhai and Rs13 lakh from P Maganlal- all angadia firms. The angadia company homeowners did not submit proof of the clients who had deposited the cash with them.


An I-T officer said, “The angadia firms didn’t have documentary evidence as to who had deposited the cash with them. We are investigating the names of the depositors and the place the cash was once to be sent.”


Meanwhile, Vapi police seized Rs53.87 lakh throughout election surveillance workout within the last two days. The cash seized by the police was once given to Vapi I-T division along with the main points of the persons for additional investigation. The accused published that the cash was once introduced from other states to Vapi as a part of ‘hawala’ transaction, to be distributed within the area.
