Tenant gets 7-yr-jail term for raping 17-yr-old

CHANDIGARH: A neighborhood court docket on Monday sentenced a man to seven 12 months prison term for raping a 17-year-old girl and fined him Rs 10,000.

However, the convict's sister-in-law had been acquitted in the case.

On October 9, 2017, the police booked the accused under Sections 342, 376, 506 and 120 B of the IPC and Sections 4 and six of POCSO Act. According to the police complaint, the accused were tenants on the area of the rape survivor.


The girl, in her complaint, had stated the accused, his brother-in law-and his wife were staying as tenants and the woman used to present her make-up pointers.


The girl had stated the woman called her to do her facial and when she went upstairs, the accused used to be there. The lady locked the room and forced her to "have sexual relations with him". She had additionally threatened that if she would reveal concerning the incident to someone, both of them would kill her family members. After a few months, the woman had become pregnant. Later, the woman had instructed her mother concerning the alleged sexual attack.


Defence recommend Yadvinder Sandhu argued each the accused were falsely implicated in the topic. It used to be argued that though the FIR used to be lodged in October 2017 and the reported incident used to be of July 2017, the accused had vacated the house in June 2017.
